Automotive Technician - State Inspector

About the role

Monro, a family of automotive service and tire dealer brands headquartered in Rochester, New York, is hiring a Technician (State Inspector) for its Rochester location. The role is full-time or part-time and is an hourly position based on business needs. The technician performs basic vehicle diagnostics and routine repair and maintenance according to company standards and manufacturer specifications, delivering 5-star guest service through clear communication of issues and solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform basic vehicle diagnostics to identify required repairs
• Complete the Courtesy Inspection on every guest vehicle, documenting and communicating additional services and repairs, and audit courtesy inspections done by General Service Technicians
• Assist with inventory management, including pulling tires and parts, unloading and stocking inventory
• Help keep the store clean and in guest-ready condition
• Perform services safely, including wheel torque and oil safety procedures, and test drive vehicles under the Road Test policy
• Follow company policies, environmental codes and OSHA standards, and complete Monro University training
• Operate and maintain equipment such as lifts, welders and brake lathes safely

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Automotive training in basic maintenance and repair, or equivalent education and experience
• Current valid driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report; able to operate customers' vehicles for test drives
• Owns a basic set of tools or joins Monro's tool purchase program
• Ability to work flexible hours, days, evenings, weekends and holidays, and to lift up to 50 lbs

• ASE certification and State Inspection license preferred
