Automation/Digitalization Engineer

About the role

BASF’s Performance Chemicals division is seeking an Automation/Digitalization Engineer to support its refining catalyst manufacturing sites in Georgia. The role focuses on designing, developing, and managing database systems that enable efficient automation and data‑driven decision‑making across the plant.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the local point of contact for automation and digitization projects, coordinating with the EVR digitization team.
• Interface with specialist departments to initiate and shape new automation initiatives.
• Collaborate with application developers to embed database solutions into MES and other software applications.
• Monitor, tune, and troubleshoot database performance, conducting regular health checks.
• Implement and maintain data security, access controls, and backup strategies.
• Analyze business data requirements and translate them into technical specifications and database structures.
• Configure digital application use cases, including the creation of customized dashboards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in database management, data modeling, and application development.
• Strong understanding of automation and digitalization concepts within an industrial environment.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with engineering, IT, and operations teams.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to data integrity.
