Automation/Digitalization Engineer

About the role

BASF SE is looking for an Automation/Digitalization Engineer to join its Performance Chemicals team in McIntyre, GA. The role focuses on designing, developing, and managing database systems that support refining catalyst manufacturing plants. You will work closely with the EVR digitization team and specialist departments to drive automation and digital initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the local contact for automation and digitization, coordinating area‑specific projects.
• Collaborate with application developers to integrate database solutions into MES and other software applications.
• Monitor, tune, and troubleshoot database performance, conducting regular health checks.
• Implement and maintain data security, access controls, and backup strategies.
• Analyze business data requirements and translate them into technical specifications and database structures.
• Configure digital application use cases, including the creation of customized dashboards.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Automation/Digitalization Engineer or similar role.
• Strong background in database management, data modelling, and application development.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams in a manufacturing environment.
