Auditor/Examiner 3 – SHIP Coordinator

About the role

The Georgia Department of Human Services is seeking an Auditor/Examiner 3 to serve as the State Health Insurance Assistant Program (SHIP) Coordinator. This position supports Medicare counseling, health‑plan decision making, and financial assistance programs while providing financial analysis and audit oversight for the program.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze program financial data and test accounting systems for accuracy.
• Evaluate organizational processes and recommend improvements.
• Monitor and audit sub‑contractors to ensure compliance with state regulations.
• Prepare detailed reports, technical assistance documents, and final evaluations for management.
• Travel frequently, including occasional overnight trips, to meet business unit needs.

Required profile

• Under broad supervision, demonstrate strong analytical and auditing abilities.
• Ability to interpret financial information and assess internal controls.
• Effective written and verbal communication for report preparation.
• Willingness to travel as required by the position.
