About the role
The Auditing & Accounting Unit of the Campaign Finance Board is seeking an Auditor to support the integrity of New York City’s campaign finance system. The role involves conducting desk and field audits of political campaigns, ensuring compliance with the Campaign Finance Act and Board Rules.
Key responsibilities
- Analyze financial records and disclosure statements for compliance and investigative audits.
- Perform audits in line with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS) and internal programs.
- Manage an assigned audit caseload, meeting internal and external deadlines and coordinating with other CFB units.
- Assist in planning post‑election audit activities and align team efforts with other departments.
- Prepare clear, concise, and timely written reports and correspondence.
- Communicate audit findings and requirements to campaign teams, including overtime as needed.
Required profile
- Experience conducting financial or compliance audits, preferably in a government or public‑sector context.
- Familiarity with GAGAS and ability to apply auditing standards to political campaign finances.
- Strong written communication skills for report preparation and correspondence.
- Ability to manage multiple audit cases and meet strict deadlines.
