Auditor II – Field Auditing & Evidence Custodian

About the role

The Auditor II performs moderately complex, journey‑level auditing work in a field auditor capacity. The role combines audit, investigation, inspection, and evidence‑custody responsibilities to ensure compliance with tax, fee, and regulatory statutes.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain chain of custody for all seized and purchased evidence, including tagging, inventory, and documentation in the SAPE system.
• Conduct entry‑level tax, fee, and regulatory audits for excise, food & beverage, and local distributors, following audit manuals and code requirements.
• Assist senior auditors with complex administrative case development and investigations.
• Perform annual evidence room inventories and coordinate with Enforcement to reconcile paperwork.
• Provide testimony on chain of custody in court when required.
• Complete New Auditors Training Program and ongoing division or agency training.

Required profile

• Ability to work under limited supervision while exercising independent judgment.
• Strong attention to detail for accurate record‑keeping and evidence handling.
• Willingness to complete required training programs within the first year.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the SAPE evidence management system.
