Auditor 2 – Cost Verification & Performance Audits

About the role

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is seeking an Auditor 2 to join its Audit Services Division in Carson City. The incumbent will perform a variety of audits, including cost verification, force‑account change orders, pre‑negotiation, performance, and single‑audit desk reviews, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct cost verification and force‑account change order audits.
• Perform pre‑negotiation, pre‑stewardship, and special‑request audits.
• Execute performance audits and single‑audit desk reviews.
• Research audit history and develop audit steps based on approved programs.
• Review financial and tax records, interview personnel, and assess compliance with applicable laws and contracts.
• Document findings, prepare work papers, and draft reports with recommendations for control improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least one year of professional auditing or accounting experience, or three years with a high‑school diploma, or prior experience as an Auditor I in Nevada state service.
• Authorization to work for any employer in the United States.
