Audience Producer

About the role

The City Reporter is looking for an entrepreneurial Audience Producer to expand the reach of its award‑winning reporting and deepen engagement with New Yorkers across multiple platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the organization’s social media accounts daily on several platforms.
• Produce 1‑3 short‑form videos each week, from concept through scripting, filming and editing.
• Collaborate with reporters and editors to source footage, including social media clips and original shoots.
• Track audience performance metrics such as page views, newsletter subscriptions, social reach, and podcast listeners.
• Serve as liaison to publishing partners and community groups interested in the newsroom’s work.
• Maintain relationships with third‑party publishing partners like Apple News.
• Assist with planning, promoting and documenting City Reporter events as needed.

Required profile

• 3+ years of newsroom experience, primarily in audience and video production.
• Proven ability to conceive, film and edit videos for social media.
• Strong copy‑writing skills for social platforms with minimal supervision.
• Excellent collaboration and communication with editors and reporters.
• Deep familiarity with New York City and solid news judgment.
• Ability to thrive in fast‑changing environments and experiment with new formats.
