A&T Technician III – Orbital Welder

About the role

Moog’s Space and Defense Group is seeking an A&T Technician III – Orbital Welder to join its Niagara Falls, NY manufacturing team. The role involves operating and setting up orbital and TIG welding equipment to produce and inspect high‑precision components for aerospace and defense applications.

Key responsibilities

• Operate orbital welding equipment and related setup tools, including tube trimming and cleanliness standards.
• Perform exacting set‑ups using height gauges, plates, measuring instruments, and fixturing.
• Operate Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding equipment in manual and semi‑automatic modes.
• Assemble weld‑process hardware, install fixtures, and create weld samples for inspection.
• Inspect welds and parts under a microscope to verify quality and dimensional requirements.
• Determine operating parameters such as voltage, temperature, position, and time when instructions are not available.
• Execute precision assembly, testing, and process‑based operations on complex components supporting new production and repair.
• Follow safety protocols, using protective eyewear and PPE as required.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED preferred; ability to understand and follow written, verbal, and computer instructions in English.
• At least 3 years of relevant welding or manufacturing experience.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations.
• Full physical capability, including bloodwork, pulmonary function testing, and fit testing.
