Asylum Program Data & Operations Intern (Unpaid)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee in New York is seeking an unpaid Data and Operations Intern to support its asylum seeker case‑management program. You will work closely with program staff to improve operational efficiency, ensure data quality, and help deliver vital financial assistance to clients.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with purchasing, tracking, and distributing gift cards and other client financial assistance in line with organizational and funder guidelines.
• Maintain organized documentation and records for financial assistance activities.
• Enter and validate program data, conduct quality‑assurance checks, and generate routine reports.
• Support the design, testing, and implementation of system and workflow improvements.
• Explore and pilot technology‑based solutions to increase operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a relevant undergraduate or graduate program (e.g., public administration, data analytics, nonprofit management).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow compliance procedures.
• Interest in humanitarian work and supporting refugees and asylum seekers.
