Associate Vice President, Campus Operations & Planning

About the role

The Associate Vice President, Campus Operations & Planning provides senior leadership for the Division of Finance and Administration at Texas A&M International University. This role drives operational initiatives that ensure a safe, efficient, and well‑maintained campus environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and set strategic direction for operational units within Finance and Administration.
• Act as the Campus Safety Survey Administrator, handling policy development, training, data collection, and reporting to the U.S. Department of Education.
• Coordinate with University departments to identify, train, and support Campus Security Authorities.
• Oversee Environmental Health & Safety and other assigned departments.
• Collaborate with Facilities, Planning, Construction, and Operations on infrastructure planning, deferred maintenance, capital projects, and improvements.
• Manage third‑party contracts for facilities maintenance, grounds, custodial services, housing, food services, bookstore operations, construction, and project management.
• Monitor vendor performance to ensure contractual obligations and service levels are met.
• Support emergency preparedness, business continuity, and risk mitigation efforts.
• Prepare reports, analyses, and recommendations for executive leadership on operational performance and compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Higher Education Administration, Construction Management, Engineering, Safety Management, or a related field.
• At least ten years of progressive experience in campus operations, safety, facilities management, or related areas.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large, multidisciplinary teams and manage complex contracts.
