Associate Software Engineer Internship (Co‑Op)

About the role

Mesh Optical Technologies is looking for a motivated Associate Software Engineer intern to join its engineering team. You will work on the code that drives both the optical interconnect product and its manufacturing processes, gaining hands‑on experience with low‑level hardware and firmware development.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with a mentor to implement and test bare‑metal drivers for I²C, SPI, ADC, DMA, and other interfaces.
• Assist in node bring‑up from power‑on to firmware load, capture boot logs, and debug hardware‑software interactions in the lab.
• Design and implement algorithms for link optimization and per‑unit calibration using C++ and Python.
• Develop software‑enabled methods to automatically validate device operation and production processes.

Required profile

• Pursuing or recently completed a BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
• Portfolio of hands‑on projects that include a hardware component (e.g., embedded firmware, robotics, signal‑processing).
• Experience with I²C, SPI, ADC sampling, or similar low‑level protocols.
• Strong analytical mindset, first‑principles problem solving, and clear communication.

• Hourly pay ranging from $26.00 to $38.00, based on academic year.
