Associate Project Manager – Central Office (Decatur, GA)

About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking an Associate Project Manager to support small‑scale projects and phases of larger initiatives at its Central Office in Decatur. Reporting to the Program Manager, you will coordinate resources, track progress, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end delivery of smaller projects, from onboarding through implementation.
• Gather and clarify project requirements directly with customers.
• Create and maintain project documentation, schedules, scopes, and cost estimates.
• Perform risk management activities to mitigate potential issues.
• Monitor project performance, providing weekly status updates to the project team and Program Manager.
• Track expenditures, flagging budget risks and escalating as needed.
• Develop comprehensive project plans and facilitate meetings, including agenda preparation and minute distribution.
• Support the Program Manager on medium and large projects as required.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with at least one year of relevant professional experience.
• Preferred: five years managing technology projects (software, hardware, or infrastructure) from conception to implementation.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and SharePoint.
• Experience using Google Meet and Zoom for virtual collaboration.
• Budget management and risk‑management capabilities.
