Associate Patent Litigation Counsel

About the role

Google is seeking an Associate Patent Litigation Counsel to join its Legal team. You will work on complex intellectual property disputes, including patent litigation and PTAB proceedings, supporting Google’s innovative products and technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage patent infringement lawsuits and related disputes.
• Conduct PTAB proceedings, including inter partes reviews and post‑grant reviews.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to assess IP risks and develop litigation strategies.
• Draft and review pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
• Provide counsel on IP matters arising from Google’s online services and hardware offerings.

Required profile

• J.D., LL.B., or equivalent degree with admission to the bar in the work location.
• At least 3 years of attorney‑level experience in IP litigation, either in‑house, at a law firm, or in government.
• Demonstrated experience with patent litigation and PTAB proceedings.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Experience handling Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) matters.
• Knowledge of intellectual property law in a technology context.
• Familiarity with Google products and online industry trends.
