Associate Objects Conservator (Sculpture & Decorative Arts)

About the role

The Associate Objects Conservator is responsible for the conservation and preservation of three‑dimensional objects in the museum’s collection, including sculpture, furniture, decorative arts, textiles, time‑based media and related items. Working within the Goode Center and across museum departments, the role focuses on examination, documentation, treatment planning and execution for a wide range of objects.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct scientific examination and condition assessments of objects.
• Document findings and treatment processes in the museum’s conservation database.
• Develop and implement conservation treatment plans for sculptures, furniture, textiles and other three‑dimensional works.
• Collaborate with curators, registrars and other specialists to ensure proper handling and display.
• Maintain and calibrate conservation laboratory equipment.
• Assist in research projects and training activities within the Goode Center.

Required profile

• Degree in Conservation, Art History, Chemistry, Materials Science or a related field.
• Experience working with sculpture, decorative arts, textiles or other three‑dimensional objects.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
