Associate Maintenance Technician (Electrical Apprentice)

About the role

Amgen is hiring an Associate Maintenance Technician (Electrical Apprentice) to assist licensed electricians with electrical system operation and maintenance across its ARI site. The role is on the admin shift (6:45 AM to 3:30 PM); after completing the apprenticeship, the schedule may change to a 12-hour rotating day or night shift at Amgen's discretion.

Key responsibilities

• Support licensed electricians with daily routine electrical work.
• Assist with the operation and maintenance of backup power, emergency power generation systems and UPS systems.
• Perform basic troubleshooting and help repair electrical equipment and systems.
• Support operation and maintenance of building fire alarm systems, including operation and troubleshooting.
• Interpret and update loop sheets, electrical schematics, P&ID drawings, I/O wiring and panel drawings.
• Carry out all work safely and identify waste and workflow interruptions, recommending and helping implement improvements.

Required profile

• Basic qualification: high school diploma or GED.
• Preferred: 2 years of electrical maintenance experience, an associate's degree, and certification directly related to the role with 2 years of electrical maintenance experience.
• 3+ years of combined education, training and experience in industrial electric operations and maintenance, instrumentation/measurement and controls.
• Ability and desire to work toward a Rhode Island Class M Electrician license.
• Good verbal and written communication, effective computer skills, constructive teamwork and openness to guidance.
