Associate General Counsel – Space & Defense Group

About the role

Moog is seeking an Associate General Counsel to provide comprehensive legal support to its Space & Defense Group (SDG). Reporting to the SVP, General Counsel, you will act as a trusted advisor to SDG leadership, helping shape business strategies while managing legal and commercial risk.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver full‑stack legal counsel for SDG’s space and defense portfolios, including U.S. Government programs and commercial projects.
• Develop and implement legal and business strategies that align with SDG objectives.
• Mitigate legal and commercial risks in a highly regulated environment.
• Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure consistent handling of major agreements and enterprise‑wide matters.
• Support complex contract negotiations, including intellectual property agreements.
• Coordinate legal alignment across operating groups when issues span multiple business units.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Minimum 10 years of legal experience, with at least 5 years in a senior in‑house role at a large corporation or law firm.
• Proven ability to develop and execute effective legal and business strategies.
• Strong track record of stakeholder collaboration and initiative implementation.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Experience in U.S. government contracting, procurement processes, and complex business negotiations.
• Ability to meet facility and program access requirements, including U.S. Person status and potential security clearance.
• Residency in the Buffalo, NY area for onsite work.
