Associate Electrical Engineer – Intern/Co‑Op

About the role

Mesh Optical Technologies is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer to join its engineering team as an intern/co‑op. You will work on the design and validation of optical interconnect products and the manufacturing facility that produces them.

Key responsibilities

• Capture schematics and create multilayer PCB layouts in Altium for test boards, power modules, control electronics, and optical interconnect devices.
• Bring up hardware in the lab using oscilloscopes, vector network analyzers, and logic analyzers, and document test results.
• Collaborate hands‑on with a multidisciplinary team to develop a high‑volume optical manufacturing facility.

Required profile

• Pursuing or recently completed a BS or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
• Portfolio of hands‑on projects such as Formula SAE, SolarCar, robotics, CubeSats, or similar.
• Familiarity with basic signal‑integrity concepts and solder‑rework techniques.
• Strong analytical mindset, first‑principles problem solving, and clear communication.

Required skills

• Altium for schematic capture and PCB layout.
• Use of oscilloscopes, vector network analyzers (VNA), and logic analyzers.
• Signal‑integrity fundamentals.
• Solder‑rework proficiency.

What we offer

• Hourly pay ranging from $26 to $38, based on academic year.
• Flexible monthly housing and transportation stipend for the duration of the assignment in Los Angeles.
