Associate Director, Student Services

About the role

The Associate Director of Student Services provides academic oversight for assigned athletic teams and acts as the primary academic advocate for student‑athletes. Reporting to the Executive Director, this senior role supervises an Assistant Director and a Graduate Assistant while collaborating closely with coaches, sports psychology, and medical staff.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily academic operations for assigned teams, ensuring compliance with SEC and NCAA progress requirements.
• Supervise and mentor an Assistant Director and a Graduate Assistant, conducting regular performance evaluations.
• Conduct weekly meetings with coaches to report detailed student‑athlete academic progress, grades, and eligibility status.
• Facilitate communication of faculty progress reports and alert coaches to any academic difficulties.
• Collaborate with Student Learning and other campus units to develop support structures that enhance learning outcomes.
• Assist in monitoring study hall usage and coordinate with admissions and compliance on potential recruits.
• Participate in recruitment activities, providing prospective student‑athletes with information about LSU’s academic programs and support services.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in academic administration within a university or athletic setting.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with experience managing staff.
• Excellent communication abilities to interact with coaches, faculty, and student‑athletes.
• Knowledge of SEC and NCAA academic eligibility regulations.
