Associate Director, Research Policy

About the role

The Associate Director, Research Policy will lead the monitoring and analysis of emerging state and federal regulations that affect research activities across the Texas A&M University System. Reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor for Research, you will ensure timely communication of policy changes and guide the implementation of necessary operational adjustments.

Key responsibilities

• Track and analyze new state and federal laws, regulations, guidelines, and policies impacting research.
• Communicate regulatory updates to the Vice Chancellor for Research and relevant system stakeholders.
• Collaborate with the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research to develop response plans based on gap analyses and risk assessments.
• Prioritize actions based on potential impact and draft or revise system‑wide policy and guidance documents.
• Produce reports, metrics, and dashboards for senior system leadership.
• Coordinate with subject‑matter experts and cross‑functional leaders to recommend, develop, and implement policy changes.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in research compliance, policy analysis, or related regulatory fields.
• Strong understanding of state and federal research regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to conduct gap analyses, risk profiling, and develop actionable plans.
