About the role
The Office of Research Administration at the University of Miami is seeking a temporary Associate Director to lead special projects in pre‑award research administration. This senior‑level position supports the Associate Vice President of Research Administration and works closely with faculty, staff, and external sponsors.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant proposal submissions to extramural sponsors.
- Conduct comprehensive analysis and negotiate research agreements, including budgets, terms, and conditions for government, foundation, corporate, and industry awards.
- Oversee staff creating compliant billing grids for clinical research projects to maintain billing compliance.
- Collaborate with Principal Investigators, compliance offices, IRB, Technology Transfer, Risk Management, and other university units to streamline research initiation.
- Provide administrative support for pre‑award, contract, and post‑award processes to improve processing times, data quality, and customer service.
Required profile
- Current staff, faculty, or temporary employee of the University of Miami (internal applicants use Workday).
- Experience in research administration, including proposal preparation, contract negotiation, and budget analysis.
- Familiarity with university and sponsor policies governing sponsored projects.
