Associate Director, Real Estate

About the role

The Texas A&M University System Offices are seeking an Associate Director of Real Estate to lead strategic transaction management and asset optimization across the system's extensive property portfolio. This senior position reports to system leadership and works closely with legal, finance, and campus partners.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and negotiate high‑value acquisitions, dispositions, and complex institutional commercial leases.
• Structure, evaluate, and negotiate ground‑lease agreements for student housing, medical, innovation, and parking facilities.
• Lead preparation, drafting, and documentation of all real‑estate transactions.
• Collaborate with the Office of General Counsel to review and finalize legal instruments.
• Design and execute sophisticated financial underwriting, valuation models, and cash‑flow analyses.
• Produce risk assessments and financial forecasts to support executive decision‑making.
• Assist in the implementation of new real‑estate software systems to enhance portfolio management.

Required profile

• Proven executive leadership in multi‑million‑dollar real‑estate transactions within higher‑education or large institutional settings.
• Deep knowledge of Texas real‑estate statutes, Board of Regents regulations, and public‑private partnership structures.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex data into strategic recommendations.
• Excellent negotiation skills and experience working closely with legal counsel.
