Associate Director, Education Abroad

About the role

The Associate Director, Education Abroad leads Drexel University’s Education Abroad Advising team, shaping the strategic direction, administration, and continuous improvement of the institution’s study‑abroad portfolio. Reporting to the Senior Director, this senior professional oversees advisors, policies, and partnerships while acting as the primary operational leader in the Senior Director’s absence.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, mentor and evaluate the Education Abroad Advising team, fostering a collaborative, student‑centered culture.
• Train advisors on program policies, nominations, course approvals, academic planning, international partnerships and best‑practice advising.
• Manage a portfolio of education‑abroad programs and maintain relationships with international partners.
• Advise students on program selection, applications, credit transfer, financial aid and pre‑departure requirements.
• Identify and develop new partnerships aligned with institutional priorities.
• Lead initiatives to improve advising operations, processes and student services.
• Collaborate with Registrar, Financial Aid, Academic Advising and other campus units to develop and implement policies.
• Support compliance with academic regulations such as Course Program of Study and transcript evaluation.
• Represent Drexel Global on university committees and advocate for education‑abroad opportunities.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience supervising advisory or student‑service teams.
• Strong knowledge of higher‑education academic processes and international education policies.
• Excellent collaboration skills with campus units and external partners.
• Ability to manage multiple programs and guide students through complex administrative procedures.
• Strategic mindset to advance operational efficiency and student participation.
