Associate Designer – Leather Goods

About the role

Marc Jacobs International is looking for an Associate Designer to join its Leather Goods design team in New York City. You will work on small leather goods, larger leather pieces, and accessories, contributing from concept through pre‑production while supporting the brand’s aesthetic.

Key responsibilities

• Develop design concepts, sketches, and technical specifications for new leather product silhouettes.
• Create and maintain inspiration boards, color cards, and CADs to guide seasonal collections.
• Produce detailed tech packs using Adobe Illustrator and ensure clear communication with factories.
• Collaborate with design, development, merchandising, and commercial teams to present and refine collections.
• Track project timelines, review development samples, and resolve technical challenges.
• Identify cost‑effective material and engineering solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Art, Fashion, or Accessories.
• 4–7 years of design experience in leather goods or accessories.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent taste, brand awareness, and a solid sense of color, fashion, and trends.
• Ability to balance creative ideas with merchandising needs.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, including component libraries.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Digital and hand sketching techniques.
