Associate Dean of Student Affairs

About the role

The Associate Dean of Student Affairs supports the college leadership in advancing the institution’s mission by overseeing student services and ensuring student success across all programs. This position focuses on retention, engagement, and academic progress for a diverse student body.

Key responsibilities

• Achieve monthly and annual retention targets through proactive student services and outreach.
• Provide accurate attrition forecasts and monitor engagement and failure rates.
• Guide students on class schedules, graduation roadmaps, and certification exam requirements.
• Conduct new‑student orientations and collaborate with admissions on onboarding, including technology support for portals, Canvas, and Office 365.
• Maintain daily contact with at‑risk students to boost classroom participation.
• Analyze engagement data using the university retention model to develop programs addressing academic, social, and emotional needs.
• Plan and execute student‑service events that satisfy accreditation standards.
• Advise students on mid‑term, failure, and absence matters.
• Hire, train, and retain student services staff.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Higher Education or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• 1–3 years of experience in a higher‑education setting.
• Knowledge of academic and vocational/technical program administration in community or vocational colleges.
• Strong analytical ability to define problems, collect data, and draw conclusions.
• Effective verbal and written communication, presentation, and listening skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience using virtual collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or equivalents.
• Familiarity with online learning platforms like Canvas and Office 365.
