Associate Auditor – Insurance Audit

About the role

New York Life’s Corporate Audit Department is seeking an Associate Auditor to support insurance‑operation audits and advisory services. Based in New York City, the role follows a hybrid schedule and reports to a Corporate Vice President on the Strategic Business Insurance audit team.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, scoping and executing risk‑based audits using the department’s methodology.
• Lead walkthroughs with business stakeholders to document processes, identify risks and map controls.
• Create flowcharts and narrative documentation of risks and controls.
• Design and perform audit tests to evaluate internal controls over key risk areas.
• Record observations, findings and follow‑up actions in the audit management platform.
• Prepare clear audit workpapers and final reports for senior management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a quantitative discipline (other degrees considered).
• 1‑3 years of audit experience, preferably in financial services or a regulated environment.
• Understanding of risk, control concepts and the three‑line model.
• Strong analytical ability, attention to detail and effective written and verbal communication.
• Self‑motivated, able to work under pressure, multitask and adapt to changing priorities.
• Willingness to travel domestically up to 10% of the time.

• Competitive salary range $65,000‑$90,000 per year.
