Assistant/Associate Professor – Research (Veterinary Medicine)

About the role

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore School of Veterinary Medicine seeks a full‑time, 12‑month, tenure‑track Assistant or Associate Professor focused on research. The position emphasizes developing and leading an independent or collaborative research program that advances veterinary medicine, biomedical sciences, animal and public health, and One Health initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and sustain an externally funded research program aligned with the School’s strategic priorities.
• Secure competitive extramural funding from agencies such as NIH, USDA, NSF, DoD, FDA, foundations, or industry partners.
• Publish research findings in peer‑reviewed journals and present at regional, national, and international conferences.
• Collaborate with faculty across UMES schools and external institutions to foster interdisciplinary projects.
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate students, supporting their research training and professional development.

Required profile

• Ph.D., DVM, or equivalent terminal degree with a strong record of scholarly activity.
• Demonstrated ability to obtain external research funding.
• Commitment to the 1890 land‑grant mission of UMES and to advancing One Health objectives.
• Full‑time, 12‑month, tenure‑track appointment.
