Assistant/Associate Professor of Textiles, Apparel Design & Merchandising

About the role

The LSU College of Agriculture seeks a tenure‑track Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Textiles, Apparel Design, and Merchandising. The position combines teaching, research, and service to advance the department’s mission.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, including draping, collection development, Optitex Pattern Software, Adobe Creative Suites, Clo‑3D, digital textile design, and computerized knitting systems.
• Develop an independent and collaborative research program in textiles and apparel design technology, secure external funding, and disseminate findings through publications and juried exhibitions.
• Provide advising and recruitment support for students, engage with professional organizations, and build industry partnerships.

Required profile

• Earned PhD in Textile, Apparel Design & Merchandising or a closely related field.
• Established record of college‑level teaching excellence.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct scholarly research and obtain external funding.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Optitex Pattern Software.
• Advanced use of Adobe Creative Suites.
• Experience with Clo‑3D and digital textile design tools.
• Knowledge of computerized knitting systems.
• Competence in draping and collection development techniques.
