Assistant/Associate Professor & Assistant Dean for Student Affairs

About the role

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore School of Veterinary Medicine seeks a full‑time, tenure‑track faculty member to serve as Assistant/Associate Professor and Assistant Dean for Student Affairs. In this dual role you will provide strategic leadership for student services, academic support, and admissions while fostering a student‑centered learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive student success programs covering academic achievement, NAVLE readiness, wellness, and career preparation.
• Oversee the admissions process for the School of Veterinary Medicine.
• Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs, faculty, and university support units to create individualized student success plans and early‑intervention strategies.
• Ensure compliance with AVMA COE accreditation standards and serve on the Dean’s Executive Leadership Team.
• Lead initiatives that promote inclusion, professional identity formation, and student retention.

Required profile

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience in academic leadership, student affairs, or related administrative roles.
• Strong record of scholarship, teaching, and service in veterinary education.
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
