Assistant/Associate Extension Agent – Nutrition (EFNEP)

About the role

The LSU AgCenter seeks an Assistant or Associate Extension Agent to lead its Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) in Jefferson Parish. This faculty position combines program supervision with community‑focused nutrition education.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 80% effort supervising EFNEP, including hiring, training, evaluating, and managing local staff and volunteers.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with community agencies, grassroots organizations, and health professionals.
• Collect, analyze, and report program data to meet federal guidelines.
• Manage program assets, budgets, and compliance with policy requirements.
• Allocate 20% effort to plan, implement, and evaluate nutrition, health, and wellness workshops through the Flavors of Health (FOH) program.
• Lead Healthy Communities projects, organize advisory committees, and identify community nutrition needs.
• Collaborate with other LSU AgCenter faculty and staff on outreach initiatives.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in nutrition education, community outreach, or related extension work.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
• Ability to build and sustain collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Computer literacy for data management and reporting.
