Assistant/Associate Extension Agent (4-H Youth Development)

About the role

The LSU AgCenter Tangipahoa Parish Office is seeking an Assistant or Associate Extension Agent to lead the parish‑wide 4‑H Youth Development program. The role focuses on fostering youth leadership, community service learning, and strong partnerships between 4‑H and formal education across Tangipahoa Parish.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the 4‑H youth development program for the entire parish.
• Build and maintain relationships with 4‑H adult volunteers, the advisory committee, local nonprofits, and LSU AgCenter peers.
• Develop and deliver life‑skills educational content that is engaging and relevant to diverse youth audiences.
• Collaborate with schools and community agencies on cooperative and interdisciplinary projects.
• Create program materials such as presentations, posters, and web‑based education resources.
• Support agricultural outreach related to cattle, forestry, horticultural crops, and hay production.

• Strong interpersonal skills for building volunteer systems and community partnerships.
