Assistant to School of Music Director

About the role

The LSU School of Music seeks a full‑time Assistant to support the Director in daily operations, serving as the primary point of contact for faculty, students, visitors, and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the front office: handle mail, maintain supplies, schedule the Director’s appointments and travel, and draft correspondence (≈40%).
• Organize student awards, scholarship auditions, newsletters, hiring services, travel logistics for faculty finalists, and event catering (≈25%).
• Oversee building usage: reserve rooms for classes, rehearsals, lessons, and performances; monitor facilities and submit work requests (≈25%).
• Supervise and evaluate student workers (≈5%).
• Perform other duties as assigned (≈5%).

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• At least one year of experience as an administrative coordinator or specialist.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Workday Student information system.
• Basic competency in Microsoft Excel.
