Assistant Technician – Design Support (Utility Drafting)

About the role

WSP is seeking an Assistant Technician to provide design and drafting support for small utility services projects in Tyler, TX. You will work closely with engineers and project teams to create accurate construction drawings and design deliverables for utility system planning and infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Generate AutoCAD and CADD designs for utility projects of basic to moderate complexity.
• Develop construction drawings, models, and detailed documentation from concept through construction.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to incorporate revisions and ensure drawing accuracy.
• Maintain compliance with client, company, and regulatory drafting standards.
• Collect and organize data from specifications, sketches, and field notes to support drafting efforts.
• Assist in preparing technical documentation and drawing packages.
• Participate in project coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in drafting, engineering technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and basic drafting principles.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate within a team.
• Self‑motivated with a willingness to learn new tools and processes.
