Assistant Store Manager

About the role

O'Reilly Auto Parts is hiring an Assistant Store Manager for its store in Jurupa Valley, California. The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in sales, customer service, store appearance and store operations, manages the store during the Store Manager's absence or on opposing shifts, and leads the team in serving customers. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the team in providing excellent customer service to retail and professional customers
• Supervise customer service levels on the retail showroom, including execution of customer service programs
• Work with the store manager to keep the retail sales counter adequately staffed during peak hours
• Help set team member goals, give feedback, coach and mentor, and keep them up to date on training
• Take part in hiring: recruiting tasks, scheduling and attending interviews, evaluating candidates
• Answer the telephone according to company policy
• Process buy-online/ship-to-store, hub-to-store and DC add orders on time and contact customers on shipment arrival
• Use the electronic outside purchase order ledger for special orders and outside purchases
• Handle returns and exchanges efficiently, issue refunds accurately and stage returned merchandise correctly
• Invoice all merchandise, including core charges and warranties, before it leaves the store
• Communicate Zipline messages and complete Image Maker and merchandising tasks as assigned
• Ensure team members follow the posted schedule, get schedule changes approved by management and clock in and out correctly
• Perform store opening and closing duties, including day-end procedures, securing money and deposits, bank deposit preparation, night security lights, locking doors, arming/disarming alarms and securing delivery vehicles
• Help maintain the building, parking lot, signage, lighting, computers, test equipment and delivery vehicles

Required profile

• Sales Specialist Training, Assistant Manager Certification and RSS Certification
• Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish highly desired)

Required skills

• Desired: Certified Parts Professional Certification and ASE Certification
