Assistant Store Manager - Auto Parts Retail

About the role

O'Reilly Auto Parts is hiring an Assistant Store Manager for its retail store in Maiden, North Carolina. The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in sales, customer service, store appearance and store operations, manages the store during the Store Manager's absence or when working opposing shifts, and leads the team in serving customers. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the team in providing excellent customer service to retail and professional customers, and supervise customer service programs such as Related Sales, Hi5, Rock the Call, Never Say No and Rock the Lot.
• Work with the Store Manager to keep the retail sales counter adequately staffed during peak hours (lunch, late afternoon, evenings, weekends).
• Help set team member goals, give feedback, coach and mentor, and keep team members up to date on their training.
• Take part in hiring: recruiting tasks, scheduling and attending interviews, evaluating candidates and helping select qualified team members.
• Ensure the telephone is answered per company policy and that buy-online/ship-to-store, hub-to-store and DC add orders are processed on time, with customers contacted on shipment arrival.
• Use the electronic outside purchase order ledger so special orders and outside purchases are handled efficiently.
• Process returns and exchanges efficiently, issue refunds accurately and stage returned merchandise correctly.
• Invoice all merchandise, including core charges and warranties, before it leaves the store.
• Communicate Zipline messages, delegate and complete Image Maker and merchandising tasks, and make sure team members follow the posted schedule and clock in and out correctly.
• Perform store opening and closing duties, including day-end procedures, securing money and deposits, preparing bank deposits, turning on night security lights, locking doors, arming/disarming alarms and securing delivery vehicles.
• Help maintain the building, parking lot, signage, lighting, computers, test equipment and delivery vehicles.

Required profile

• Sales Specialist Training, Assistant Manager Certification and RSS Certification.
• Fluency in multiple languages; Spanish is highly desired.

Required skills

• Desired: Certified Parts Professional Certification and ASE Certification.
