Assistant Softball Coach

About the role

The University of Arkansas at Monticello seeks an Assistant Softball Coach to support its NCAA Division II women’s softball program. This position combines on‑field coaching, athlete development, and classroom instruction in health and physical education.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach in planning, organizing, and executing all aspects of the softball program, including coaching, recruiting, scheduling, and travel logistics.
• Manage budgetary responsibilities and support fundraising initiatives for the team.
• Supervise student‑athletes, monitor academic progress, and promote their overall well‑being.
• Teach part‑time health and physical education courses as assigned.
• Perform additional duties delegated by the Head Coach, such as community outreach and compliance monitoring.

Required profile

• Baccalaureate degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Knowledge of NCAA and Great American Conference bylaws.
• Demonstrated commitment to the academic success of student‑athletes.
• Experience coaching at the college, high‑school, or junior‑college level, with a competitive background preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with students, faculty, alumni, and the broader community.
