Assistant Project Manager – Public Sector Construction

About the role

The company is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join its Waltham office and support the delivery of large‑scale public building projects across Massachusetts. Working side‑by‑side with an experienced Project Manager, you will be involved in every phase of the project, from pre‑construction planning through close‑out, ensuring documentation, coordination and problem‑solving keep the work on schedule and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager with daily project administration and coordination.
• Manage subcontractor correspondence, submittals, RFIs and change orders.
• Track project schedule, budget and contract compliance.
• Support procurement activities and scope review during pre‑construction.
• Coordinate with field teams, owners, designers and public agencies.
• Maintain accurate project documentation throughout all phases.
• Attend project meetings, prepare minutes and follow‑up actions.

Required profile

• Interest in public‑sector construction and willingness to learn the full project lifecycle.
• Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills for interaction with subcontractors, designers and agency representatives.
• Ability to work on‑site in an office‑based team environment.
