Assistant Professor – Statistics (Tenure‑Track)

About the role
The Department of Mathematical Sciences at New Mexico State University seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor to join its faculty in Fall 2027. The appointment focuses on statistics, supporting both research initiatives and undergraduate/graduate teaching.
Key responsibilities
- Teach and coordinate undergraduate and graduate courses in mathematics and statistics.
- Advise and mentor students at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Develop an independent research program in statistics and seek external funding.
- Supervise graduate student research and theses.
- Contribute to departmental, college, and university service.
Required profile
- Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related discipline earned before August 2027.
- Strong potential for scholarly research in statistics.
- Excellent communication and teaching abilities for both graduate and undergraduate audiences.
- Willingness to collaborate with existing faculty.
