Assistant Professor – Psychology & Special Education

About the role

East Texas A&M University is launching a new PsyD in Clinical/School Psychology and seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor to help shape the program. The appointment begins Fall 2027 and includes teaching, research, and service responsibilities within the Department of Psychology & Special Education.

Key responsibilities

• Teach graduate courses in Clinical Psychology, including Psychopathology, Assessment, and related subjects.
• Develop and sustain a productive research program leading to peer‑reviewed publications and conference presentations.
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate students in research projects.
• Contribute to curriculum development for the upcoming PsyD program and existing MS program.
• Provide departmental, college, university, and community service.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or PsyD) in Clinical Psychology or a closely related field, completed before Fall 2027.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to high‑quality teaching.
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.
• Willingness to work beyond normal office hours and travel as needed.

Required skills

• Experience mentoring graduate and/or undergraduate students in research.
• University‑level teaching experience, preferably at the graduate level.
• Familiarity with evidence‑based assessment and intervention practices.
