Assistant Professor - Psychology & Special Education

About the role

East Texas A&M University is launching a new PsyD in Clinical/School Psychology and seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor to help shape the program. The appointment begins Fall 2027 and includes teaching, research, and service responsibilities within the Department of Psychology & Special Education.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and sustain a productive research program leading to peer‑reviewed publications and conference presentations.
• Teach graduate courses in Clinical Psychology, including Psychopathology, Assessment, and related subjects.
• Contribute to curriculum development for the upcoming PsyD and existing MS program.
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate students in research and scholarly activities.
• Provide service to the department, college, university, and broader community.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology or a closely related field, completed before Fall 2027.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Commitment to high‑quality teaching and evidence‑based practice.
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.

Required skills

• Experience mentoring graduate and/or undergraduate students in research.
• University‑level teaching experience, preferably at the graduate level.
• Online teaching experience.
• Licensed (or license‑eligible) psychologist in Texas is preferred.
