Assistant Professor of Practice – Counseling

About the role

The Department of Counseling at East Texas A&M University seeks a full‑time, non‑tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Practice to begin in Fall 2027. The faculty member will serve as Practicum & Internship Coordinator for CACREP‑accredited programs and contribute to teaching, service, and scholarly activities.

Key responsibilities

• Teach up to three undergraduate and graduate courses each semester, both online and face‑to‑face across campuses (Commerce, Dallas, Plano).
• Coordinate practicum and internship experiences, advise students, and participate in departmental, college, and university committees.
• Maintain professional engagement through memberships, credentialing, and service to the counseling community.

Required profile

• Earned doctoral degree in counseling or counselor education (CACREP‑accredited preferred).
• Evidence of effective university‑level teaching, scholarly productivity, and sustained professional counseling memberships.
• Relevant professional counseling credentials (e.g., LPC‑S, Registered Play Therapist) or eligibility to obtain within the first year.

Required skills

• Ability to deliver instruction online (synchronous and asynchronous) and in‑person.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for student advising and collaborative work.
