Assistant Professor of Finance

About the role

St. Olaf College’s Department of Economics (Business Program) seeks a full‑time, tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Finance to begin in August 2027. The successful candidate will lead the development of the finance curriculum, teach undergraduate finance courses, and contribute to the broader business education mission.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the finance curriculum and related co‑curricular opportunities.
• Teach undergraduate courses in corporate finance, investments, and finance electives such as asset pricing, financial markets, risk management, fintech, or ESG finance.
• Support general business courses (e.g., introductory business, strategic management, business analytics, entrepreneurship) as needed.
• Mentor and advise a diverse student body, including supervising quantitative research projects.
• Engage in scholarly research or practice‑focused work in finance.
• Participate in departmental and college service, including curriculum development and program initiatives.

Required profile

• PhD/DBA (or ABD with completion expected by June 2027) in finance or a related field, OR an MBA/CFA or equivalent master’s degree with substantial senior‑level industry experience.
• Demonstrated commitment to high‑quality, inclusive undergraduate teaching and student mentorship.
• Active research agenda or practice‑oriented scholarship in finance.
• Willingness to contribute to departmental service and collaborative initiatives.

• Annual salary range $88,200 – $93,000.
