Assistant Professor – Mathematics (Statistics & Data Science)

About the role

The Department of Mathematics at East Texas A&M University seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2027. The position focuses on Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or closely related areas, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary applications.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Mathematics, Statistics, and Data Science across face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online formats.
• Develop and expand curricula in Statistics, Data Science, and Machine Learning.
• Maintain an active research program leading to peer‑reviewed publications, presentations, and external funding.
• Mentor and advise students, engage them in research, and contribute to departmental, college, and university service.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field (completed before start date).
• Evidence of potential for excellence in university‑level teaching and a productive research agenda.
• Ability to collaborate professionally with students, faculty, staff, and external partners.

Required skills

• Research expertise in Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or Computational Mathematics.
• Experience teaching related courses at undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
• Record of scholarly publications, professional presentations, and potential to secure external research funding.
