About the role

The School of Agricultural and Natural Sciences at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore seeks a full‑time, tenure‑track Assistant Professor to lead research, extension, and teaching at the intersection of artificial intelligence and agriculture.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a nationally recognized, externally funded AI research program with direct relevance to agricultural systems.
• Provide extension services that translate AI innovations into practical solutions for farmers and stakeholders.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in AI, data science, and their applications to agriculture.
• Collaborate across disciplines within the School of Agricultural and Natural Sciences and with external partners.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Agricultural Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated experience applying AI tools to agricultural or environmental challenges.
• Strong record of scholarly productivity and potential for external funding.
• Commitment to the land‑grant mission of research, teaching, and extension.
