Assistant Professor – Counselor Education

About the role

The Department of Education at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor in Counselor Education to begin in August 2026. The position focuses on graduate teaching, research, and service within an in‑person program, with potential hybrid or online opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver graduate courses in Counselor Education, including core counseling theory, techniques, ethics, and multicultural counseling.
• Utilize innovative teaching methods and technology to enhance student engagement.
• Provide academic advising, mentorship, and support for practicum and internship experiences.
• Maintain an active research agenda, pursue publications, presentations, and grant writing.
• Engage students in research and evidence‑based practice initiatives.
• Participate in curriculum development, accreditation (CACREP) alignment, program assessment, and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to departmental, college, and university service through committees and student support initiatives.
• Foster partnerships with local schools, community agencies, and professional organizations.

Required profile

• Doctorate in Counselor Education (preferably CACREP‑accredited) or a related doctoral degree with full‑time faculty experience meeting CACREP eligibility.
• Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service.
• Ability to mentor graduate students and support their practicum/internship experiences.
