Assistant Professor – Bioethics (Tenure‑Track)

About the role

The Alden March Bioethics Institute at Albany Medical College seeks a full‑time, tenure‑track Assistant Professor in bioethics. The appointment will begin between January and July 2027 and involves teaching, research, and clinical ethics consultation within a leading academic medical center.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct conceptual or empirical research in bioethics and publish scholarly work.
• Teach two graduate courses in clinical ethics and contribute to the four‑year ethics curriculum for medical students.
• Provide clinical ethics consultation for the Albany Medical System.
• Participate in institute activities, curriculum development, and interdisciplinary collaborations.

Required profile

• Terminal degree (PhD, JD, MD, etc.) in bioethics or a related discipline such as philosophy, anthropology, sociology, history, medicine, nursing, or law.
• Demonstrated ability or strong potential for research and graduate‑level teaching.
• Commitment to interdisciplinary work and to serving the academic community.
• Willingness to undergo training in clinical ethics consultation during the first year.
