Assistant Professor & Assistant Dean – School of Architecture

About the role

The School of Architecture at Prairie View A&M University seeks an experienced academic leader to serve as both Assistant Professor and Assistant Dean. Reporting directly to the Dean, the incumbent will manage key administrative functions while teaching undergraduate and graduate architecture or construction science courses.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee faculty affairs, including hiring, promotion, tenure, and mentoring.
• Manage budgets, staff, and policy implementation for the school.
• Support curriculum development, accreditation processes (NAAB, ACCE), and program quality.
• Address student academic and behavioral matters, promoting retention and success.
• Teach a minimum of two courses each semester.
• Participate in research initiatives, grant activities, and college-wide projects.
• Represent the Dean in internal and external meetings and perform university, professional, and community service.

Required profile

• Terminal degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Architecture, Construction Science, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated experience in scholarly writing and presenting on architecture or construction management topics.
• Familiarity with accreditation standards of NAAB and ACCE.
• Proven ability to manage academic programs and faculty affairs.

• Understanding of accreditation processes for architecture and construction programs.
