Assistant Professor – Acute Care Surgery

About the role

The Department of Surgery at Tulane University seeks an Assistant Professor to join its Acute Care Surgery Service. This full‑time faculty position combines clinical practice, teaching, and research in a vibrant academic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide elective, emergency, and intensive‑care surgical services at East Jefferson General Hospital.
• Perform robotic and minimally invasive procedures as part of the elective general surgery practice.
• Manage post‑operative care for transplant, oncology, ENT, orthopedics, and other subspecialty patients in the SICU.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate medical students and residents.
• Engage in basic science and/or clinical research initiatives.

Required profile

• Completion of an ACGME‑accredited general surgery residency and surgical critical care fellowship.
• Board certification or eligibility in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care.
• Eligibility for medical licensure in Louisiana.
• Strong interest in academic medicine, education, and research.
