Assistant Operations Manager

About the role

The Assistant Operations Manager supports daily operations at the Garden City yard, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services. Working closely with the Terminal Manager, dispatchers, drivers, and support teams, this role helps maintain smooth yard operations while fostering a positive, accountable culture.

Key responsibilities

• Support daily route coverage, staffing, dispatch, and service execution.
• Provide clear communication and assistance to drivers, attendants, dispatchers, and yard employees.
• Ensure employees understand their daily assignments, expectations, and responsibilities.
• Assist with safety coaching, compliance follow‑up, incident response, and performance feedback.
• Support onboarding, training, attendance management, and corrective coaching as needed.
• Review operational reports and data for accuracy, trends, and improvement opportunities.
• Promote a workplace culture focused on safety, teamwork, accountability, and service.
• Attend meetings, trainings, and company events; perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Three years of transportation, operations, logistics, or related experience (preferred).
• One year of supervisory or lead experience (preferred).
• High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
• Knowledge of DOT, Article 19‑A, school bus operations, and safety regulations (preferred).
• Strong communication, organization, leadership, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Comfortable using technology, reports, and operational systems.
