Assistant Men's and Women's Swim & Dive Coach

About the role

Carleton College seeks an Assistant Coach to support both the men’s and women’s swim & dive programs. Working closely with the Head Coach, you will help deliver a competitive NCAA Division III experience while fostering the holistic development of student‑athletes.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach in planning and executing daily morning and afternoon practices, dry‑land training, travel logistics, and fundraising activities.
• Participate in recruiting efforts, helping identify, attract, matriculate, and retain high‑performing student‑athletes.
• Support administrative tasks such as equipment management, meal ordering, social‑media updates, and team meetings.
• Teach Physical Education activity classes as needed.
• Attend coaching meetings, complete required training and certification programs, and stay current with NCAA Division III and MIAC regulations.
• Model sportsmanship and support student‑athletes balancing rigorous academics and athletics.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS).
• 1–2 years of coaching or collegiate‑level playing experience.
• Strong commitment to student‑athlete success, excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities.
• Self‑motivated with the capacity to recruit, teach, and coach talented scholar‑athletes.
• Current American Red Cross (or equivalent) Lifeguarding certification.
• Valid driver’s license.

Required skills

• American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification.

• Part‑time (0.15 FTE) position with an annual salary range of $17,400 – $20,000.
